Art is Wine x Portretbiënnale

Join us on May 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the iconic Loods 6 in Amsterdam for a special evening dedicated to art and wine.

This special evening, part of the Portretbiënnale 2026, focuses on the theme “Don’t Be a Stranger. In a time of increasing polarization and distance, this exhibition brings artists and visitors together around the portrait as a powerful tool for connection and recognition. Expect an evening where art is not only viewed, but also experienced and discussed.

The Portretbiënnale celebrates its 35th anniversary this year and presents work by both established artists and emerging talent. In Loods 6 – a historic site in Amsterdam East – various styles and perspectives come together to reflect on identity, humanity and our role in society.

About the Portretbiënnale
The Portretbiënnale is a biennial event of the Vereniging Het Nederlands Portretschap and brings together contemporary portrait art in a socially relevant framework. With the theme “Don’t be a stranger,” the biennial invites openness, dialogue and breaking down boundaries between people.

Through exhibitions, conversations and fringe programming, the portrait is used as a mirror of our times – a way to see the other, and perhaps understand ourselves better.
