Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso “Canova”

 36,95

In Valpolicella lies a remarkable mountain called Sant’Urbano, located between the towns of Marano and Fumane, where an Eocene lava flow originated. This unique soil, characterized by a mixture of basaltic components and limestone shale, provides the ideal environment for the development of grapes rich in extracts, structure and aromatic finesse. From these mountain vineyards come both the grapes for Amarone and the grape skins that Cà Dei Maghi uses to produce one of their most distinguished wines, which best reflects the essence of their CRU (high quality vineyards): the Classico Superiore Ripasso Etichetta Oro.

The Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso “Canova” is first made from fresh grapes and amarone grapes carefully hand-picked. The wine is then aged for 48 months in large barrels.

In the glass, this wine from Cà Dei Maghi reveals a deep ruby color with subtle garnet reflections. The aromas are complex and varied, with notes of ripe fruit, macerated flowers infused with spirits, hints of black olive, wild mint, kina and rhubarb. These are just a few examples that illustrate the richness of this wine, but most importantly, this wine comes from the heart.

On the palate, the Ripasso “Canova” reveals a wonderful finesse and elegance, but at the same time it sometimes displays a visceral and subdued character. In short, this is a heraldic Ripasso, produced from some of the most exquisite vines, which embodies the true essence of Valpolicella’s terroir.

Cà Dei Maghi

Cà Dei Maghi in Valpolicella is an old family business with an enchanting name that means “house of magic” in Italian. Cà Dei Maghi is located on a picturesque hill in the village of Fumane in Valpolicella. Led by Paolo Creazzi, the winery mainly produces famous red wines, including Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone. Noteworthy, however, is also the production of white wines, a rarity in Valpolicella, such as Barabao from the Garganega grape and Camparsi from the Trebbiano. Paolo, in his own unique way, shapes these wines by finding a harmony between tradition and innovation. The result are his unique, highly rated Valpolicellas, Ripasso’s and Amarone’s, which are characterized by their juiciness and clarity. With Paolo, the essence of the grapes is central.
